Latest information request - how were slates were transported away from the village

Mike Yeadon wants to know “is there anyone in the village that could give me more indication of the old quarries used in the slate industry, together with information on how the slates were transported away from the village.”

“I have an interest in industrial archaeology and railways and have decided to take up railway modelling again. I am looking for a prototype that never was and I am tempted by a narrow gauge railway that could be based around a fictitious line from stonesfield to possibly eynsham to give it a focus and some realism! Just started the research and an English narrow gauge slate line appeals.”
